Every one of the 48 states and over 30 countries I’ve visited has had its own unique culture and ways of fitting into the Big Picture, both globally and in the imagination. These stories either take place in non-New York locales, or feature immigrants to the United States that call those other places “home.” A (very) partial sampling includes the scriptural bases of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, the ethos of community justice and reconciliation in post-Apartheid South Africa, three generations of Bedouin culture within one family, various immigrant views of a father’s “proper” role, and a five-part series on the sexual exploitation of children in sub-Saharan Africa. Ethnic Life and Travel
